    Climate: Warm temperate

    Origin: Maryland, USA (USA)

    Cap: 10-30 mm in diameter, orange brown with a dark band on the margin, somewhat micaceous (covered in very fine reflective particles).

    Stem: Reddish brown covered with pale whitish fibrils, often bluing at the base.

    Gills: Attachment adnate to uncinate. Mottled brownish when young soon turning black with spore maturity

    Spores: Black in deposit with an oblique germ pore in side view (see also the Panaeolus microscopy gallery).
